Yes to stickers! Visayas officials support anti-drug home stickers
The Department of Interior and Local Government’s controversial idea to mark drug-free homes with stickers has the support of peace-and-order councils in the Visayas.
All four regional peace-and-order council chairpersons in the Visayas backed the program, DILG-6 Regional Director Anthony Nuyda said.
“So far there were no negative reactions. There were only suggestions on how it will be implemented such as the validation process. The opinions and comments of the members were collated and those will form part of the guidelines,” Nuyda said, The Daily Guardian reported (https://thedailyguardian.net/banner-news/visayas-rpocs-support-drug-free-home-stickers/).
Earlier, the DILG consulted all RPOCs nationwide on the formulation of guidelines for the anti-illegal drugs program.
The DILG held a consultation in the Visayas attended by governors Samuel Gumarin (Guimaras, Region 6); Hilario Davide III (Cebu, Region 7); Sharee Ann Tan (Samar, Region 8); and Roel Degamo (Negros Oriental, Negros Island Region).
“The Luzon and Mindanao consultations are also done. It is being fast tracked as the program is a support on the anti-illegal drugs campaign after the Philippine National Police were removed of the responsibility,” Nuyda said.
