Will Jamjam Baronda become Iloilo City’s first congresswoman?

If elections were held today, former Iloilo City councilor Julienne “Jamjam” Baronda remains the overwhelming favorite to win the congressional race.

Baronda got 56.7 percent in the latest survey of Random Access Consultants, Inc. (RACI). Her score was 24 percent higher than the 32.5 percent of her Councilor Joshua Alim.

Another rival, former city councilor Perla Zulueta only received 8.8 percent.

“Again I am overwhelmed. The Ilonggos have spoken and they are not backing down on their word. The people of Iloilo City want the Baronda ‘Gugma’ brand of public service back,” said Baronda.

As city councilor, the chief political officer of Senator JV Ejercito authored the original Iloilo City Anti-Smoking Ordinance that created the Iloilo City Anti-Smoking Task Force.

She also penned the Iloilo City Gender and Development Code that recognizes and honors outstanding Women of Iloilo.
