Who’s your source? Cebu police chief dares Tommy Osmeña to reveal details of hitmen list
Senior Superintendent Royina Garma, Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) director, on Tuesday dared Mayor Tomas Osmeña to reveal the source of his list of alleged hitmen from Negros Oriental who are now in Cebu.
“I need to know the source of the information, because our validation could start there from the source,” Garma said. “First, who is the source of the information? Baka may bias yan.”
The mayor on Monday claimed he has acquired a list of hitmen which he said includes some policemen and a former soldier who are allegedly involved in extra-judicial killings.
Garma said Osmeña may have been misinformed as there are no alleged police hitmen from Negros Oriental who have been recently reassigned to Cebu City.
“It’s not true. I have already validated this report,” Garma said in Tagalog, adding that she expected this kind of issues to surface following her intensified campaign against criminality in the city.
“I’ve already anticipated this, because of my aggressive campaign against all forms of criminality including illegal drugs. And this is it. It’s happening. But I will continue with my programs. Whether I will be judged negatively, I do not care,” the CCPO lady chief said.
The Police Regional Office in Central Visayas (PRO-7) also backed Garma’s statement that there are no policemen from Negros Oriental reassigned to Cebu.
PRO-7 deputy regional director for operations, Senior Supt. Angelito Dumangeng, said the mayor should furnish them with the list so that they can investigate the police officers allegedly involved in the spate of killings in Cebu.
“I don’t know where he got his (Osmeña) information. If he will just show us the list, so we can investigate them,” Dumangeng also said in Tagalog.
In his press conference on Tuesday, the mayor said he will not coordinate with the police regarding his source of the list of hitmen.
Osmeña said he won’t reveal his source of the information for the safety of his informant, but that he will be posting the names and photos of these alleged hitmen on social media anytime this week.
The mayor instead asked Garma to transfer Sawang Calero Police Station commander Chief Inspector Chuck Marandog.
Osmeña said he received a report that Marandog has been allegedly involved in two shooting incidents in Barangay Calamba this city.
“For this reason, I’m formally asking her (Garma) to transfer Marandog out of Cebu,” the mayor said. (PNA)
