West Visayas State University to open law school this year
West Visayas State University (WVSU) in Iloilo City has received a go-signal from the Legal Education Board to open a College of Law for school year 2020-2021.
Dr. Joselito Villaruz, president of the WVSU, said they received an email from the staff of the Legal Education Board informing them that their application had been approved and that official communication be sent to them as soon as possible.
“Delay lang because of the pandemic. We have to get the approval of the legal education board before we could actually say that we are ready to open,” Villaruz said Thursday. (https://bit.ly/3f0aU48)
He added that early next week, they will post on the WVSU official website the necessary requirements so the application process can begin.
Written and oral examination will be provided for applicants, according to him.
Villaruz disclosed that only 25 applicants will be accepted this year to ensure that the program’s pioneers are as good or well-performing as they are at the College of Medicine.
For the tuition fees, the official said students will pay a minimum fee because WVSU is a state university.
With the opening of the College of Law at WVSU this academic year, they will be the first public law school in Region 6.
