Water station worker challenges Biron, Defensor for governor’s seat

A water-refilling station attendant is joining the 2019 gubernatorial contest in Iloilo province.

Jonry Gargarita of Barangay Lay-ahan, Pototan filed his certificate of candidacy Thursday afternoon at the Commission on Elections provincial office in La Paz district.

A Panay News report said Gargarita, 31, decided to run for governor because he would have wider latitude in implementing programs and policies in the province.

He said he also plans to suspend excise taxes on fuel and engage youth in civil society.

Gargarita graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Criminology from West Negros University.

Other candidates running for the governor’s post are Rep. Ferjenel Biro and Rep. Arthur “Toto” Defensor Jr.
