Watch out! Politikos ban plastic, styro in Butuan City

The city won’t take those drainage cloggers anymore.

The Butuan City Council has approved a resolution banning the use of plastic and Styrofoam materials across town, following a proposal from Councilor Cromwell Nortega.

The ordinance was signed Oct. 4, and allots six months as transition period for consumers and establishments to adjust their packaging items and find alternatives.

This follows the footsteps of other cities, especially most of Metro Manila, in banning the use of plastic bags for storing purchased items. It shouldn’t be much of a hassle — the rule doesn’t cover plastic people!
