Wala nang silbi! Cebu gov’t to lease out two training centers
The Cebu provincial government will be leasing out two training centers built during the the Davide administration.
Governor Gwendolyn Garcia said the province can rent out the training centers in Naga City and Toledo City, which cost around P16 million each, to interested training providers.
The training centers have become irrelevant since the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) now goes to the barangays for its skills training programs, added Garcia. This scheme has allowed thousands of students including out of school youth to graduate. These graduates also acquired a National Certificate 2.
TESDA reportedly refused to run the training centers since they are already overlooking seven others.
“We already spent over thirty-two million for these. I refuse to spend another centavo for the upkeep and maintenance of two facilities of which we have no skills or expertise,” Garcia said.
