VM Rama wants ‘better’ Undas, festive season
As more of the population gets vaccinated, Cebu City Vice Mayor Michael Rama expects a “better” observance of the Kalag-Kalag and celebration of the Christmas season this year.
Last year, the city government closed cemeteries during the All Saints’ and All Souls’ Days and urged a simple yet meaningful Christmas celebration.
“We are bringing vaccination as a way to liberation,” said Rama. (https://bit.ly/3z5YKQk)
The vice mayor said he will bring up the matter with the executive department after talking with the Philippine National Police.
“I will discuss it with the executive and I already talked about it with the police. We can have or we enjoy and celebrate November 1 and 2,” he added.
Rama said he plans to open the cemeteries to the public this year and extend the traditional two-day observance to two weeks.
The official also encouraged church leaders to do their part in promoting vaccination among the faithful.
