Treñas shuts down city hall for 3 days

Iloilo City Mayor Jerry Treñas placed the City Hall under a three-day lockdown due to the threat of the coronavirus (Covid-19).

All city government officials and employees will be tested for Covid-19.

Treñas hoped that all test results would be released by weekend. (

The mayor announced city hall’s temporary closure and “mass testing” yesterday, a day after ordering a two-day suspension of the City Treasurer’s Office’s (CTO) operation because of 32 confirmed cases in that office.

In random Covid-19 tests on CTO employees, 75 have so far tested negative for the virus.

Workers with no negative reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) test results won’t be allowed to enter city hall, said Treñas.
