Treñas outlines roadmap for Iloilo City dev’t


If he wins as mayor, Rep. Jerry Treñas would lay out a roadmap towards inclusive economic growth in Iloilo City.

Panay News reported that Treñas’ program of work is summarized in the acronym “WHEELS” that stands for “Welfare, Health, Education, Environment, Livelihood, Sustainability.”

“Welfare” pertains to public welfare and safety, emergency response, effective drainage system, housing projects for the poor and traffic management.

“Health” aims to improve access to medical and oral health care, clean public toilets, clean and safe drinking water, and put in place sustainable feeding program for children.

“Education” seeks to enhance assistance to public schools and daycare centers, as well as upgrade the Iloilo City Community College and Technical Institute of Iloilo City and provide continuing education.

“Environmental management” refers to the need to rationalize the Esplanade operation, improve all plazas, and coordinate with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources, Land Transportation Office, and the Department of Health.

“Livelihood” means finding ways and means to provide employment and livelihood opportunities for the poor, intensify tourism and investment promotions, promote Iloilo City as meetings, incentives, conferences, exhibitions capital, intensify programs for employment, entrepreneurship and livelihood training, and modernize slaughterhouse and public markets.

“Sustainability” refers to the continuous delivery of all government programs, projects, activities, and services.
