Treñas opts for simple Iloilo City Charter Day celeb
Mayor Jerry Treñas has opted for what he believes is a modest celebration of the Iloilo City’s 82nd Charter Day.
This, after the increasing cases of dengue fever in the province and the sea tragedy on Iloilo Strait that claimed the lives of 31 people.
Treñas has prioritized addressing the issue of dengue and extending assistance to the victims of the tragic sea accident.
The city will do away with the usual grand parade during the August 25 highlight.
Instead, a morning mass at the Freedom Grandstand will be offered to those affected by calamities and keep the Ilonggos safe from challenging times.
Last August 14, the City Hall conducted activities with a cause including a bloodletting in partnership with the Philippine Red Cross and Western Visayas Medical Center.
