Treñas defends purchase of pickups for city councilors

Iloilo City Mayor Jerry Treñas defended the purchase of new service vehicles for city councilors.

The purchased pickups were “not luxurious” and were intended for official use and not for personal enjoyment, according to Treñas.

“These are standard pickups, 4×2, without leather seats,” the city mayor said. (

He added that the city government has been providing service vehicles to various departments.

Councilors Candice Tupas, Mandrie Malabor, and Eduardo Peñaredondo waived the use of a new vehicle.

They asked the mayor to detail the vehicle to other departments or offices.
