Travel restricted for Koreans in Bohol until April 23
April 18, 2017

Following a clash between government forces and Abu Sayyaf bandits in Bohol earlier this month, the Korean government has restricted travel for its nationals in the island until April 23.

In a special travel advisory, South Korea’s foreign ministry said the “temporary, special travel advisory” is effective from April 13 to 23.

“Judging that public insecurity could continue for some time on the Island of Bohol, the venue of the ASEAN summit from April 18 till 22, the Foreign Ministry has made the move to protect nationals of the Republic of Korea there,” it said.

It added the special travel advisory is tantamount to a “red alert” or “Travel Restricted.”

This calls for “cancelling or postponing if possible the plan to visit the designated area, or leaving the area unless there are urgent matters to attend to,” it said.
