Tourism Board partners with Japanese IGs to promote Bora

Expect Boracay Island to be featured on social media network Instagram, after a group of five Japanese Instagrammers visited the world-famous island this month.

The five Japanese Instagrammers explored Boracay Island last March 9 to 11, following a partnership between the Tourism Promotions Board and DOT Tokyo.

Cebu Pacific Airlines was also a partner in organizing the familiarization trip dubbed “The Philippine Fun Instagram Ambassadors”.

Under the program, the five were required to feature Boracay in their Instagram posts. They were to post at least three photos or videos in their Instagram stories per day.

Organizers said they aim to create awareness of Philippine tourism destinations through Instagram, one of the most recognized social media platforms in Japan.

The Department of Tourism region 6 provided welcome leis and assistance during the group’s tour.

During their first day, the Japan-based Instagrammers explored souvenir shops and had a hearty lunch at Sunny Side Café.

On the second day, the group visited Puka Beach and the world renowned white beach. They ended the day with dinner at Discovery Shores.

During their stay, the Instagrammers also enjoyed sunset cruise and island hopping.

“I was surprised with the improvement of Boracay after six months of rehabilitation. I am thankful for this wonderful opportunity to showcase the beauty of the Island. Truly, the island is one of the best beach destinations in the world,” said one of the Japanese Instagrammers.
