Tommy Osmeña revives hope for Angkas in Cebu

The city hall is looking to absorb the service given strong clamor from Cebuanos.

Mayor Tomas “Tommy” Osmeña has been so open to digital solutions enjoyed by millennials, so much that he is willing to breathe new life to the motorcycle hailing service Angkas just to help commuters get around.

The politiko said the Cebu City Government will be studying the possibility of getting Angkas aboard the local government services following the shutdown of the mobile ride-hailing service by the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board.

“Many people have been texting me about Angkas. Since Angkas is providing a real service to the public, the City Government will be studying how to take over Angkas’ operations by hiring their administrative personnel,” Osmeña said on Facebook.

Previously, the politiko tapped Uber and Grab for city hall services as well.

Do you think this will work?
