Heroes don’t wear capes — they wear a look of exhaustion and determination.

Mayor Tomas Osmeña branded the emergency responders from all over Cebu who went to help Naga City after a deadly landslide hit on Thursday, Sept. 20.

The death toll is now over 40 and increasing, as rescuers unearth more bodies from what used to be a mountainside community. The politiko shared photos of the rescue teams trying to squeeze in some rest before going out to resume search and rescue.

“Being a hero is not as glorifying as the movies show. It is dirty, exhausting, and usually far from dramatic. But these are what real heroes look like, and we are lucky to have them,” Osmeña said.
