Tindog Marawi! Gov Marañon says Negros Occidental will send aid, too

Financial aid continues to pour in for the thousands of families that were displaced by the Maute Group’s siege of Marawi City.

This time, it’s the Provincial Government of Negros Occidental under Governor Alfredo Marañon Jr. that wants to chip in for their conflict-weary countrymen down south.

“We will determine where we will course through our assistance. We will wait until the war is over and we will know the extent of damage,” Marañon was quoted as saying in a SunStar Online report Monday, June 5.

“We will check if we can send our assistance either through the Philippine Red Cross, the Department of Social Welfare and Development, or the local government units affected,” added the politiko.

The same report said there is as yet no announcement as to the amount of the Capitol’s donation.

Marañon said he will ask the Provincial Board to approve the financial assistance.
