Throwback lang muna! Mike Rama celebrates Sinulog with old photos
The COVID-19 crisis has cancelled what would have been the happiest time in Cebu.
Vice Mayor Mike Rama felt bittersweet as Cebu City celebrates the Sinulog Festival this year with no parties and events that would have otherwise driven people and tourists to city streets for flamboyant and stunning performances.
“In the past, today would have been one of jubilation where thousands of people would hit the streets to profess our devotion for Senyor Sto Niño as part of the Solemn foot procession while at dawn, others would take part in the Sinulog Fluvial Festival atop boats and ships. The pandemic has changed all that, as it has changed many aspects of our lives,” the politiko said.
For him, his faith remains. He settled for throwback photos from previous celebrations to mark the special occasion.
“Regardless, we continue to find new ways to express our devotion and gratitude to Senyor Sto. Niño. We have seen this with the advent of technology, with the online masses and activities for this year’s Sinulog 2021. So although things have indeed changed, one thing remains: our love and devotion for the Child Jesus,” he added.
