Syjuco couple seeks court’s permission to get medical treatment in Singapore
Former Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) chief Augusto Syjuco Jr. and his wife, former Iloilo 2nd District representative Judy Syjuco, has asked the Sandiganbayan to allow them to travel to Singapore where he intends to undergo a medical operation.
“They are not a flight risk as they have every intention to vindicate their names, that they will appear before this Honorable Court whenever necessary or whenever required to do so, that they have ownership of real properties in Iloilo City and Makati City, and that they are not fugitives from justice,” they assured in their motion to travel.
The couple informed the anti-graft court that they intend to go be in Singapore from Dec. 6, 2018 to Jan. 6, 2019.
The former TESDA chief explained he has to undergo treatment at the Mount Elizabeth Hospital for severe pain in the lumbar and cervical area.
He informed the court that if not aggressively treated it could lead to leukemia.
The former TESDA chief is facing two graft charges before the Sandiganbayan 2nd Division over the alleged anomalous implementation of educational programs for Iloilo.
While, his wife pending charged of graft and malversation through falsification before the Sandiganbayan 3rd Division concerning the alleged anomalous 2005 purchase 1,582 units of Nokia 1100 phones worth P5.9 million.
