Suspended Bacolod mayor enjoys quality time with constituents
Bacolod City Mayor Monico Puentevella has considered his suspension over graft raps as a blessing in disguise.
In a report by Sun.Star Bacolod on Saturday, Puentevella said he is using his 90-day “vacation” from City Hall work to touch base with residents.
Puentevella said he can even have breakfast or coffee tricycle, trisikad drivers and the urban poor.
“People are unmindful of the suspension. What is important to them is they see you in the flesh in their barangays and even homes,” the mayor said.
Puentevella had been ordered suspended by the Sandiganbayan Fourth Division in relation to his alleged involvement in the supposed overpriced purchase of computer package worth P26 million when he was still congressman.
The re-electionist mayor denied the allegation, saying the case was the handiwork of his political rivals.
