STL operation in five Iloilo tows indefinitely suspended
The operation of Small Town Lottery (STL) in five towns in Iloilo has been indefinitely suspended to give police more time to curb illegal gambling.
The five towns are: Carles, Batad, Estancia, Balasan, and San Rafael.
STL franchisee Eagle Crest Gaming and Holding Corp. said that they agreed to suspend operation so that authorities could freely operate and eradicate illegal numbers game such as “bookies.”
The 15-day ultimatum given to Iloilo municipal police chiefs to eradicate illegal gambling ended yesterday.
Senior Superintendent Marlon Tayaba, director of the Iloilo Police Provincial Office, earlier warned that those police chiefs who’ll fail to eradicate illegal gambling will be relieved from their respective posts.
However, there was no announcement yet on who will be relieved from their posts.
