Some NegOcc mayors back ECQ extension
Some mayor in Negros Occidental support the extension of the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) in the province to contain the coronavirus disease (Covid-19)
Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson through Executive Order 20-20 placed the province under ECQ from March 30 until April 14, 2020.
“There is a need of extending because I believe we haven’t reached the peak of our cases yet,” said Don Salvador Benedicto Mayor Marxlen dela Cruz.
The bottom line in extending ECQ, he also said, is human survival. (https://bit.ly/2wmAejI)
“Let’s forget about income lost. Being alive is more important. Looking forward that everyone will understand that. We already started mitigation through ECQ, why not continue it until the month-end,” added dela Cruz.
Cauayan Mayor John Rhey Tabujara also favored the quarantine extension. “Yes as long as we will have massive testing of the PUIs,” he said.
Moises Padilla Mayor Ella Garcia- Yulo echoed the same sentiment. “Yes, since only a few have submitted for testing, we are not sure yet about the statistics being published,” she said.
Cadiz City Mayor Salvador Escalante said that he has no objection to an extension. He, however, said that the quarantine must be strictly implemented.
