A total amount of P1.4 billion in infrastructure projects is being lined up for construction in Silay City, Negros Occidental.

Mayor Joedith Gallego confirmed that a new City Hall to be built in Hacienda Maquina, Brgy. Rizal will proceed with a P500 million budget derived from a loan with the Development Bank of the Philippines.

The idea for a new City Hall was conceived during the administration of former Mayor Mark Golez, and it was followed by the donation of a 6.5-hectare property donated by the Jalandoni family. (https://bit.ly/3ZI4U7A)

Gallego said its construction was already approved by the Sangguniang Panlungsod, with the signing of memorandum of agreement for the loan now being readied by DBP.

The mayor stated that P300 million of the P900 million loan has been designated for the construction of a City College, P300 million for the public market, and the remaining balance for the construction of either a sports complex or a coliseum.

He also announced the construction of a four-story building to house 192 Silay City informal settler families in support of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s Pabahay program.

The housing project will be located in 2,000-square meter lot owned by the family of Art Briones at Sitio Loney in Brgy. Mambulac.
