Signatures forged on ballot petition vs Malacon
Nineteen registered voters of EB Magalona town in Negros Occidental complained that their signatures on the election protest against Mayor Marvin Malacon had been forged, the Visayan Daily Star reported.
In a sworn affidavit subscribed to before lawyer Dennis Salem, the complainants objected to the inclusion of their names and signatures as affiants in the case against Malacon, who won a reelection in the May 13 midterm polls.
They said have not accomplished any affidavits, affixed their signatures or appeared before the Notary Public in relation to the electoral complaint.
Other complainants said they were misled to sign on a blank piece of paper and promised to receive packs of rice.
Negros Occidental Board Member David Albert Lacson earlier filed an election protest against Malacon, citing the use of defective Secure Digital cards in the last elections.
