Sagay, Bago cities cancel fiestas due to COVID-19
No thanks to health concerns from COVID-19, Sagay and Bago Cities in Negros Occidental have canceled their fiestas for this coming summer.
Sagay City Mayor Alfredo Marañon III issued Executive Order No. 005-AOM cancelling the 24th Sinigayan Festival celebration on March 14 to 19.
Marañon noted the Department of Health advisory discouraging the public from “attending, participating in and organizing events that draw a huge number of attendees.” (https://dailyguardian.com.ph/sagay-bago-cities-cancel-fiestas/)
“We may miss the glitter and gaiety of the Sinigayan Festival, however, it is necessary to minimize, if not eliminate, the risk of contracting the virus,” he added.
In Bago City, Mayor Nicolas Yulo also canceled the fiesta celebration of the city that was supposed to start Feb 11.
