Mayor Ronnie Dadivas urged concerned local agencies in Roxas City to heighten surveillance and monitoring against the spread of the deadly new coronavirus, which has killed hundreds of people in China.

Dadivas also asked the Department of Interior and Local Government, Philippine National Police, Philippine Coast Guard, Philippine Ports Authority, Civil Aviation Authority, Department of Education, Hospital Administrators and health personnel to impose necessary preventive measures against the virus in the city.

The mayor has issued Executive Order 2, series of 2020 or “An Order Strengthening Epidemiological Surveillance and Response System to Protect the City of Roxas from 2019 Novel Corona Virus Cases from Wuhan, Hubel, China and other emerging and re-emerging infectious diseases.” (https://bit.ly/31hAI5H)

The Order seeks to establish and mobilize respective Barangay Health Emergency Response Team composed of barangay health workers, barangay service workers and barangay nutrition scholars to assist and conduct epidemiological surveillance.

The City Health Office will lead the overall surveillance, while the City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office will provide technical assistance, EO 2 stated.

The Roxas City Airport and the Port of Culasi are also mandated to take appropriate detection and reporting of possible cases.
