Right on time? Re-electionist Bacolod Mayor Puentevella suspended for 90 days

The re-election bid of Bacolod City mayor Monico Puentevella hit a major snag after the Sandiganbayan ordered him suspended for 90 days for an alleged anomalous information technology project.

Based on a Philippine Star article, the project was implemented when Puentevella was a lawmaker.

It was Councilor Carlos Jose Lopez who distributed to local reporters copies of the Sandiganbayan order.

Sought for comment, Puentevella said he has yet to receive a copy of the court order.

Only in his first term, Puentevella is seeking re-election in 2016 possibly against Rep. Evelio Leonardia.

The incumbent mayor was representative of Bacolod from 2001 to 2010 before running for mayor in 2013.
