Pwede pa dine in! Samsam Gullas lays out MECQ rules for Cebu
The entire Cebu province may be returning to a lockdown, but it doesn’t mean the local economy will be paralyzed yet again.
Talisay Mayor Samsam Gullas revealed that Cebuanos will live under Modified Enhanced Community Quarantine but will still be allowed some movement.
“Mass gatherings are prohibited except for public gatherings that are essential for the delivery health services, government services and humanitarian activities. Our vaccination rollout will continue since this qualifies under the MECQ guidelines,” the politiko said. “But religious gatherings are allowed provided that we will only allow 30 percent of their maximum capacity.”
“Establishments that sell and serve food are allowed to operate provided that they will only allow 50 percent seating capacity for ‘al fresco’ dining (eating on open space), and promote take out and delivery,” he added.
His appeal: strictly adhere to social distancing, wearing of masks, and all other health protocols at all times.
“We need a #SharedResponsibility to get through this as DOH hires more nurses to improve the bed capacity sa atong mga hospitals in both the private and public sector,” Gullas added. “We don’t want a repeat of last year wherein our hospitals and isolation facilities were close to maximum capacity because of so many Covid-19 cases.”
