Puentevella ready to face raps over tampered video
Former Bacolod Mayor Monico Puentevella is ready to face any charges that will be filed against him by Mayor Evelio Leonardia.
Puentevella made this remark after City Legal Officer Joselita Bayatan said they are studying the possibility of filing a case against him and those responsible for allegedly altering a video clip from President Rodrigo Duterte’s speech.
This is a free country, the ex-politiko said in The Visayan Daily Star report.
Bayatan claimed that the video was altered to make it appear that Duterte was referring to Leonardia when he reiterated his warning against mayors who are involved in illegal drugs during the PDP-Laban campaign rally in Victorias City, Negros Occidental.
The move aims to malign the reputation of the mayor and to give disinformation to the Office of the President, according to him.
But, Puentevella insisted that Duterte indeed warned the mayors during last week’s rally.
“Leonardia should not divert the issue because the problem of Bacolod is you. That was the message of the President,” the congressional candidate added.
