Pontevedra mayor Alonso, wife contract Covid-19
Mayor Jose Maria Alonso and his wife, Mary Gerardine, have tested positive for the coronavirus disease (Covid-19) and are now self-quarantined.
Alonso said he was informed yesterday morning that he was Covid-19 positive after he and nine members of his household real-time-polymerase chain reaction, or RT–PCR test, Wednesday.
His wife had a fever on Tuesday and an RT-PCR test showed that she was positive for Covid-19, according to him. (https://bit.ly/2G1Ga6d)
On Wednesday, the mayor and nine others from his house, including his two children and mother-in-law, underwent RT-PCR tests at the Red Cross molecular laboratory in Bacolod City. Results showed that only he tested positive.
Alonso, who is asymptomatic, said they do not know where his wife got the infection as she barely goes out of their house.
