Police security teams to secure Davao City visit of PM Abe

Police security teams will be deployed to ensure the safety of Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe who will be arriving in Davao City this January 13.

Davao City Police Office (DDCPO) head Senior Supt. Michael John Dubria said police officers will be deployed in all routes of the Japanese leader including the village of Mintal in the third district.

Mintal, which is known as Davao City’s “Little Tokyo,” is the site where many Japanese settlers lived during pre-war years.

He added the DCPO will provide the necessary security assistance to the Presidential Security Group which is also tasked to secure the Japanese official.

Abe arrived in Manila sometimes Thursday, January 12. This marks the start of his official visit to the country.

This is in reciprocation of President Rodrigo Duterte’s visit to Japan last October.

Duterte was invited by Abe to visit Japan when the two met in Laos last September during the sidelines of the ASEAN Summit.
