PNP Balete, Aklan’s FB account features sexy photo
Over the weekend, the Facebook account of the Balete (Aklan) police gained several followers, but for the wrong reasons.
Here’s why: the profile photo of town police’s social media account was replaced with a woman wearing a racy outfit.
The photo had not yet been replaced as of 1:30 p.m. of Jan. 7, 2019, with police saying they were locked out of the Facebook account (https://www.facebook.com/balete.policestation).
Aklan Police Provincial Office spokesperson PO2 (PO2) Ma. Jane Vega said the Facebook account was hacked as early as Jan. 2, when a non-uniformed personnel tried to log in the account.
She said they could not gain access to the account. The Aklan police was also locked out of the email account tied to the Facebook account.
For now, Vega said Balete police head Inspector Liezel Goboy decided to report the intrusion to Facebook.
An initial investigation showed the hacker’s internet provider was in Victorias City in Negros Occidental.
Vega said they reported the incident to the PNP’s anti-cyber crime unit for further investigation.
The local police is also working to create a new Facebook account soon.
