PDP-Laban row ‘won’t matter much” to UNegA: Escalante
The possibility of a split of PDP-LABAN due to differences among its leaders “won’t matter much” to the United Negros Alliance (UNegA), Cadiz City Mayor Salvador Escalante Jr. said.
Majority of the UNegA members, led by the late Governor Alfredo Marañon Jr., were among the 11,000 Negrenses who took their oaths before President Rodrigo Duterte’s party in 2017.
Escalante, also the secretary general of UNegA, said it was aimed to coalesce with PDP-Laban to show support to Duterte, although they did not vote for him during the 2016 elections. (https://bit.ly/2TtHrtt)
UNegA members supported the presidential bid of Mar Roxas, whose mother is a Negrense.
“If the PDP-Laban will split or whatever, it won’t matter much to us in UNegA,” the mayor said.
