Patola at antukin! Iloilo PNP sacks 27 cops in Anilao town
At least 27 police personnel of Anilao town in Iloilo were relieved from their posts after some of them were caught sleeping on the job.
Western Visayas police head Chief Superintendent John Bulalacao said the 27 are uniformed personnel of the Anilao Police Station.
Bulalacao ordered the “immediate relief” of all personnel of the police station, including chief of police Senior Inspector Menrico Candaliza.
Chief Inspector Ciriaco Esquiliarga was named to head the Anilao Municipal Police Station.
He said the 27 will report to the Iloilo Police Provincial Office’s Personnel Holding Administrative Unit, while an investigation is ongoing.
Iloilo police chief Senior Superintendent Marlon Tayaba said the National Police Commission-Region 6 conducted an inspection and audit at 4:30 a.m. of Dec. 6, and found the lights in the station out.
There was no sentinel on duty or desk officer – violations of the Philippine National Police’s operations manual.
Napolcom regional director Atty. Joseph Celis added the police station had no signage, even as a further check showed the officers inside the station were asleep.
“I have been constantly reminding our personnel to abide by the rules and regulations of the PNP in his talks and inspections in all police stations regionwide,” Bulalacao said.
He said he even reminded the now-dismissed policemen before “that they must not be remiss with their duties.”
“Matigas talaga ang ulo nila despite the repeated reminders,” he added.
