Para di na issue: Duke Frasco to file bill easing Cebu mask mandate

Duke Frasco will get a resolution passed in Congress acknowledging Cebu’s relaxed face mask requirement once the 19th Congress opens in July.

The Cebu congressman wants to diffuse the tension between his mother-in-law, Governor Gwendolyn Garcia, and the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) as Garcia already made masks in open air spaces optional.

“Easing up on the mask mandate corresponds to the call of times, with our general population being vaccinated, hospitalization due to Covid-19 at very low levels, and our economy being in dire need of resuscitation,” the politiko said.

“This can only happen if we rationalize the mandates that convey our openness to move forward like other recovering economies have done post-pandemic such as the United States, the United Kingdom, Singapore, and Thailand.”
