Panay-Guimaras-Negros Bridge project up for China funding
The Department of Finance said two bridges in Western Visayas and Mindanao are up for potential Chinese financing.
The Davao-Samal Bridge project, with a total length of 4.4 kilometers, will cost P9 billion, while the 20-kilometer Panay-Guimaras-Negros Bridge project is estimated to cost around P40 billion.
“We want to assure you that the funds provided by the Chinese people through the Chinese government are going to be used to the benefit of the Filipino people,” said Secretary Carlos Dominguez III in a statement.
Dominguez earlier visited People’s Republic of China Vice President Wang Qishan to provide updates on the infrastructure projects with funding support from China under the Duterte administration.
These projects include the Binondo-Intramuros and Estrella-Pantaleon Bridges ($63.13 million), the Chico River Pump Irrigation Project ($62.09-million), and the New Centennial Water Source-Kaliwa Dam ($211.21-million).
“We have been meeting with the Ministry of Commerce of China for the past two years, and we have made a lot of progress with our actual official development assistance relations with China,” Dominguez said.
