Panaad Stadium in Negros Occidental to get facelift
The provincial government of Negros Occidental is planning to rehabilitate the Panaad Stadium, particularly its oval track.
Acting Negros Occidental Provincial Àdministrator Lucille Gelvolea said Governor Alfredo Marañon already instructed Provincial Engineering Office to conduct an ocular inspection of the stadium to determine what parts needed repair.
“We have to do this to make Panaad Stadium more competitive, especially that it is has been home to international football competitions,” said Gelvolea in the Watchmen Daily Journal report.
The forthcoming rehabilitation was made in response to complaints regarding cleanliness at the stadium, which recently hosted a Suzuki Cup match between the Philippines and Singapore, the official said.
She also explained that organizers of sporting events pay the provincial government to cover electricity and water usage.
