Palace exec backs revival of Negros Island Region
A commissioner of the Presidential Anti-Corruption Commission (PACC) wants to revive the Negros Island Region (NIR) that President Rodrigo Duterte abolished in August 2017.
Reviving the NIR will help reduce the problems and burdens of the national government, said Commissioner Manuelito Luna.
“The problem will be reduced because the Negrenses want to contribute through being autonomous,” added Luna, who was in Bacolod City recently for the Balangayan 2019: Constitutional Reform Provincial Roadshow. (https://bit.ly/2QZBu4j)
Duterte abolished the NIR two years after it was created by his predecessor, President Benigno Aquino III, citing lack of funds.
Luna is a former lawyer of Negros Oriental Governor Roel Degamo.
