P300M road project in Boracay starts this month

The Department of Public Works and Highways is to start this month the second phase of a P300-million circumferential road project in Boracay Island.

DPWH Secretary Mark Villar last weekend inspected the Boracay Circumferential Road from Cagban Port to Rotonda and the missing 4.12-km gap in Barangay Bulabog.

Villar said that with Phase 1 almost done, “we will be formally inaugurating the Phase 1 within the end of the month.” (

The second phase includes a two-lane section. The first section will cover road from the Elizalde property passing through the Ambassador Hotel towards the City Mall. The other section will be from the Tambisaan Port and will end at the Rotonda.

Villar said they expect to complete the second phase “within a year.”

Also, Villar said they will also work on the road network within the Lake Town.

He added they are working fast as long as the “workable area” will be delivered to them.
