P108M allocated for Silay airport
A total of P108 million has been allocated for the development of Bacolod-Silay Airport, according to the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP).
Captain Jim Sydiongco, director-general of CAAP, said another P114 million budget has been aside for 2020 for the same purpose.
Sydiongco, in a Watchmen Daily Journal article, shared that vacant sides along the airport’s terminal building will soon be expanded to accommodate for more passengers.
When it began commercial operations in 2008, Bacolod-Silay Airport accommodated between 800,000 to one million passengers a year.
The number of air passengers has since increased to 1.7 million, with the facility now operating at least 16 flights a day.
