Oplan Magdalena ops rescue 7 bar girls in Roxas City
At least seven women were rescued from a trafficking operation following a police raid on a resto bar and hotel in Roxas City last June 17.
The police conducting Oplan Magdalena had received “persistent” reports of alleged prostitution and sexual abuses in the establishment.
During the operation, they arrested Elcid Besana Dario, floor manager of the bar, after dealing with a confidential agent.
Investigation showed Dario allegedly offered the sexual services of a woman under his control in exchange for money.
Recovered from the suspect was P500 marked money, P7,720 cash believed to be proceeds of the prostitution ring, and an unused condom.
Members of the Criminal Investigations and Detection Group in Capiz led by Police Major Chris Arthemius Devaras and the Department of Social Welfare and Development conducted the operations at Paolo Resto Bar and Elcid Hotel.
The rescued women were brought to the Department of Social Welfare and Development for counseling while the suspect was detained at the CIDG-Capiz detention cell.
But while Dario faces charges for violating the Expanded Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act of 2012, the owner of the establishment remains at large.
