Northern Negros farmers receive CLOAs, cellphones from DAR
Some 1,000 agrarian reform beneficiaries in northern Negros received mobile phones from the Department of Agrarian Reform, a month after President Rodrigo Duterte distributed land titles there.
The DAR said the beneficiaries were promised the phones by Duterte when he visited the area last March.
It said the recipients were among 2,495 farmer beneficiaries awarded certificates of land ownership award last March 8 in Sagay City.
In his speech last month, Duterte also promised fertilizers for the recipients of land titles.
He added that he will provide them with a contact number that they can call to file complaint or raise a concern to the government.
DAR-Western Visayas Regional Director Stephen Leonidas led the distribution of the phones last April 15.
The first batch of recipients includes ARBs from Bacolod, Talisay, Silay, Cadiz and Sagay Cities; and E.B. Magalona town.
DAR-Northern Mindanao Regional Director Joseph Orilla said the distribution of the mobile phones for other ARBs has been scheduled in the coming days.
The DAR said the 2,495 ARBs received land titles to 1,609 hectares of acquired land from 141 landowners in eight cities and 11 towns in Negros Occidental.
