No dengue epidemic in Cebu – Gov
There is no dengue outbreak in Cebu, according to Governor Gwendolyn Garcia.
Garcia said cases of dengue in the province has not reached epidemic levels.
Last Tuesday, the Department of Health declared a national dengue epidemic due to the surge in dengue cases nationwide. There have been 622 deaths from January 1 to July 20, 2019.
But, the Cebu official noted the number of new cases in the province has decreased – from 1,153 cases in January to 479 cases in July.
“The feedback from (DOH-7 Director Dr. Jaime Bernadas) is here in Cebu, there is not an outbreak even,” she added.
Garcia, however, said the Provincial Health Office is working closely with DOH-7 and the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center in monitoring the cases.
