Negros Oriental has new police chief
Negros Oriental now has a new police chief, though in an acting capacity as of now.
Police Colonel Rizalito Gapas was designated as acting director of Negros Oriental Police Provincial Office effective August 9.
According to Negros Oriental police spokesman Police Chief Master Sergeant Edelberto Euroba, Gapas, who came from Pasig City as city police chief, is expected to arrive in the province this week (https://dailyguardian.com.ph/negros-oriental-police-gets-new-head/).
Gapas will succeed Police Colonel Angelito Dumangeng, who was temporarily assigned in a concurrent capacity as officer-in-charge of the provincial police on July 31.
Dumangeng, who is also deputy regional director for operations of PRO-7, was previously assigned as Norppo officer-in-charge.
He had succeeded relieved Police Colonel Raul Tacaca. Tacaca was removed from his post over the spate of killings in the province last month.
With the new order, Dumangeng will return to his original designation at the regional headquarters, Euroba said.
