Negros councilor succumbs to Covid-19
A town councilor in Negros Oriental province, the first confirmed case of coronavirus disease (Covid-19) in the Visayas, died Sunday.
Negros Oriental Governor Noel Degamo said the 62-year-old councilor, identified as Patient 39, succumbed to the disease at Siliman University Medical Center in Dumaguete City at 11:09 a.m.
The patient was a councilor from Tayasan town who went to Manila on February 26 to attend the 11th National Congress of the Philippine Councilors League in Metro Manila. (https://bit.ly/33pkJn9)
He visited Greenhills Shopping Center in San Juan City flying back to Tayasan on March 1.
Patient 39 was considered immune-compromised as previously had a kidney transplant.
“Mayroon nang community quarantine sa bayan ng Tayasan. All councilors of Tayasan and some from Negros Oriental na nakasama niya sa Councilors League ay under quarantine din,” said Degamo.
