NegOcc steps to modernize farms
Good news for farmers in Negros Occidental the provincial government has launched a program to mechanize farms in the province.
Negros Occidental Governor Alfredo Marañon Jr. led officials in launching the program in Purok Camingawan Proper in Brgy. Taloc in Bago City.
Marañon said the program will let Negrense farmers “make their work easier and faster and at the same time increase their production.
He said Bago is the pilot area for the farm mechanization program, and will also be replicated in other areas in the province.
Bago City Mayor Nicholas Yulo said he is happy with the provincial government’s emphasis on farming and agriculture, as rice production is Bago’s leading industry.
Meanwhile, Myrna Villa, chairperson of the Newton-Camingawan-Para (NECAPA) Farmers’ Association thanked Marañon for the mechanization program.
Provincial Agriculturist Japhet Masculino led provincial agriculturist office members in distributing hybrid rice to the farmers.
