NegOcc on alert for coronavirus
Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson has directed Provincial Health Officer Ernell Tumimbang to ensure that Negros Occidental is on alert against China’s deadly coronavirus and is ready to address the problem should it enter the province.
Several reports indicated that an outbreak of coronavirus that originated in Wuhan City has killed 56 people and infected more than 2,000.
Lacson said the Provincial Health Office has notified all district hospitals to be aware of the new coronavirus. (https://bit.ly/36smYWL)
Once a coronavirus case is detected, the governor said the patient will immediately be transferred to the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital that has the capability and the isolation facility for such patients.
Health officials said coronavirus patients experience flu-like symptoms, including fever, a cough, shortness of breath, a sore throat or runny nose.
