NBI arrests Iloilo Mayor Locsin after SC affirms graft conviction
Janiuay, Iloilo mayor-elect Frankie Locsin has been arrested by the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) now that the Supreme Court (SC) affirmed his graft conviction.
The NBI has already confirmed that Locsin was arrested last June 3 to when he went to the NBI Region 6 office to secure a firearms license.
However, the NBI found out that he has an arrest warrant issued by the Sandiganbayan.
Locsin has been placed under hospital arrest since then.
Just last May, the SC issued a decision which upheld the 2015 ruling of the Sandiganbayan which found him guilty of graft.
The case stemmed from the 2001 purchase of P15 million worth of medicines which was funded by the pork barrel of Sen. Tito Sotto.
However, the Commission on Audit (COA) found that supplier was not accredited by the Department of Health (DOH).
