The five, identified with Iloilo City Rep. Jerry Treñas, appealed to Espinosa to sign the documents needed to process the staff members’ salaries.
One of the councilors, Armand Parcon, said he is dismayed over the delay, which he said lasted as long as two months.
Aside from Parcon, the staff of councilors Lady Julie Grace Baronda, Jay Treñas, Marie Irene Ong, and Leila Luntao have yet to receive their pay.
Parcon said Espinosa is duty-bound to sign the documents that will allow the processing of the salary payroll.
For her part, Baronda said they sent Espinosa a letter on the issue last Nov. 28. She said they are still waiting for a response.
In their letter, the councilors said their staff and their respective families are distressed that their salaries that were delayed since Nov. 1.
