Nakuhanan ng ‘bato’! Pavia police arrests Lanao Del Sur retired teacher
A 62-year-old retired teacher learned a rough lesson after he was caught in an anti-drug sting operation in Pavia town in Iloilo last weekend.
Hamim Ambilao, who hails from Bubong Madanding in Marantao, Lanao del Sur, was arrested in a rented house in Barangay Ungka 2 in Pavia last March 23.
Recovered from him were five plastic sachets of suspected shabu worth P123,000. However, Ambilao denied involvement in the drug trade.
Police said the arrest stemmed from information that Ambilao was distributing shabu to street peddlers in Iloilo City (https://thedailyguardian.net/local-news/retired-teacher-nabbed-with-p123k-worth-of-shabu/).
Pavia police head Chief Inspector Fernand Limbungan said Ambilao is a newly identified drug suspect. Limbungan said Ambilao’s son and other relatives were present but they were not arrested as they did not take part in the transaction.
Limbungan cited their information indicating Ambilao got his supply of drugs from Manila, entering Western Visayas through Bacolod City where it will be brought to Iloilo.
“He could be part of a drug group. He was apparently asked for the income derived from the sale of shabu,” he said.
Before Ambilao’s arrest, city police arrested Tony Mansader and Jojie Abastillas at Barangay Kasing-Kasing, Molo.
Police said the two are underlings of Rolando Torpio, a sub-group leader of the Odicta Drug Group.
